Safe Water Cuts the Daily Journey at Nantong Zuo

Two mechanised boreholes are producing 2,000 litres a day and have reduced the water-collection journey from about 90 minutes to 15.

School girl from the community excited about getting access to clean water

Dream Village began working in 2022 to improve access to safe drinking water in Nantong Zuo, a dry community near Tamale. Low water tables required investigation at several locations before three boreholes were drilled. Two were mechanised and, as reported in the January 2024 newsletter, together produced 2,000 litres per day. The new source reduced the time women and children spent collecting water from about one and a half hours to roughly 15 minutes. While the supply did not yet meet the needs of the community’s more than 1,200 residents, it provided safe groundwater for around 200 people—a critical start made possible with support from the Grundfos Foundation–PDJF and community collaboration.
