Regenerating Zongo Macheri: Our Syntropic Agroforestry Journey

A story rooted in the land

This documentary shares the journey behind Dream Village and Green Gold’s syntropic agroforestry work at Zongo Macheri. It is a story of damaged land, practical experimentation, setbacks and the steady work of regeneration.

The project developed as a 100-acre syntropic pilot within wider community lands, organised in two 50-acre blocks. One block has matured into a developing forest system, while work continues on the second.

Learning through setbacks

The journey has not followed a straight line. Bushfires damaged parts of the planting and forced the team to replace trees, rethink protection and continue learning from the landscape. During the 2023 Green Ghana planting effort, 3,560 replacement trees were planted.

Regeneration is not a single planting day. It is the decision to keep caring for the land after the cameras and ceremonies are gone.

The film brings together the land, the people and the practical lessons behind the work. Watch the full documentary above and share it with anyone interested in syntropic agriculture, landscape restoration and community-led regeneration in Ghana.
